The Grey Matter Dispatch newsletter
Welcome to the new-look newsletter. This post will tell you all about what's new and what's coming up with GMD.
Hey folks!
Thanks for sticking with me so far. Yeah, that’s my ugly mug in the image above showing off an anthology I recently had a poem accepted for. You should check out Remains To Be Told: Dark Tales of Aotearoa — it really is an interesting collection and includes some amazing writers and their work.
As you’ve probably figured out, the focus (and name) of this newsletter has now changed. I had all these high-faluting ideas that my ‘Horrorpreneur’ idea would change the world, but the reality was it was stressing me out because it was taking me away from what I love doing — writing horror fiction.
The other thing I love doing is writing and sharing my thoughts on horror fiction, films, books, art, and book collecting. Occasionally, I’ll also venture into writing and sharing horror poetry.
So here’s the deal: stick with me and the Grey Matter Dispatch newsletter, and you’ll receive regular free short stories, poems, and posts about all the things I mentioned above. What you get as a free subscriber includes:
General updates on my writing projects and releases (teasers, announcements).
Horror culture posts, such as essays or short articles about classic films, trends, or genre history.
Interviews with other horror authors (partial interviews or highlights).
Collectors’ insights — occasional posts about vintage horror books (non-exclusive highlights) and canonical works from the horror literature genre.
Monthly updates, links, and recommended horror reads.
Occasional short stories, poetry, and book reviews.
I hope to have paid membership content available soon. This will include the following high-value perks:
Full access to original fiction — early releases of short stories, serialised novellas, or excerpts before publication.
Extended interviews — full versions of author chats, including behind-the-scenes craft talk.
Vintage horror deep dives — full-length, exclusive posts on rare books, collecting tips, and market insights.
Writing and publishing insights — detailed posts on craft, indie publishing, marketing for horror authors, etc.
Bonus essays and dispatches — personal pieces, behind-the-scenes looks at your process, or thematic horror explorations.
Subscriber-only Q&A — let readers and writers ask questions you answer in special posts.
Occasional deals and offers — discount codes for your books, signed book offers, or early access to merchandise.
So there you have it, the complete low-down and plan ahead for Grey Matter Dispatch. Stick with me and I’ll make it worth your time. Meanwhile, if you haven’t already, why not download two free digital copies of my books and check out my website, which has a ton of interesting content that you will enjoy.

Stay scary! 💀
